This one topped my list. I was excited to have this book arrive last week. I started the book on a Monday and despite the many interruptions of kids, dogs, and an invisible fence person I still had it read in about three days. I had a hard time putting it down.I'm a Jane Austen fan. I wondered how it would fit together with an Amish storyline. The answer is it fit rather well. I loved how the story unfolded and Sarah brought this together. The story weaves biblical truth into it and the characters will have you laughing and crying. All of Sarah's characters were lifelike and I found myself wanting to chase Fanny off of the farm while cheering on Edwin and Eleanor and getting a little chuckle when the bishop visited some of the village gossipers in the end. The book was a wonderful read and being a fan of the original and of Amish fiction it was great to see it all come together. This is a fantastic read and I'm excited to find this series. I plan on getting the other books in the Amish Classic Series and enjoying some new classics! So grab a copy today. Happy Reading!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.A Very "Sensible" RetellingBy Reader for ChristFun story and retelling of an English story. The sisters were so well portrayed, compared and contrasted. Sarah Price's ancestry goes back to the 1705 Mennonites that came to America and settled in the Lancaster, PA area. She has studied and lived among the Amish and Mennonite families in the area and her writing reflects a true understanding of the practices and behaviors of these people. The story portrays the strengths of the Amish way of life and also that life is not always predictable, lived with the integrity by all its members, and how issues can be taken care of in sometimes surprising ways. I really look forward to future "retelling of English classics" by Sarah Price.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. One should not put off reading this book!!By Tina WatsonI'm trying to figure out WHY I put off reading "Sense and Sensibility" written by Sarah Price. Classic books can be difficult for me to read written by the original authors. I should have known "Sense and Sensibility: An Amish Retelling of Jane Austen's Classic" would be an easy, flowing read, after all it was retold in the hands of Sarah Price.I loved the main characters and disliked a few support characters. Which happens sometimes, it's called how real the descriptions and details can be that you are drawn in to the story if the author has a magical way with words.I look forward to reading more books by Sarah Price. And next time I won't be putting off reading her work.I received a free copy from NetGalley with the only request to write an honest review about the book. No money was exchanged. This is my review written in my own words.See all 33 customer reviews...
