SilkThe beautiful cover of this e-book really attracted me, as well as the sea adventure plot. In 1969, in the Caribbean Sea, on the island of St. Martin, Jack, 13 years old, is looking over the side of a small fishing boat, 'Kelly.' Also aboard is Eddie, a Rastafarian friend in his early 20's, and Frank Myers, Jack's father, who is a scientist who assures his son that 'she' will be here, at the same location on the water as last year. Move forward to 1975, again, the fishing boat 'Kelly' is at the same location with Jack, Eddie, and Frank ... same scene, same quest. Each year the three of them have come back to the same spot. Jack isn't sure he can believe the same way as his dad anymore. 'She' is never there. In 1988, a new boat 'Jack's Sports IV,' has only Jack and Eddie aboard, as Frank has passed away. Whoever 'she' is, Jack is a firm believer again that 'she' exists. Now, in 1990, a scuba student in New York City, Kelly Reed, for the third time has fainted during her lessons. As she comes around, she's embarrassed but she's determined on Saturday to earn her diving certificate. Before heading on vacation, she stops to see her dad who is in the hospital. He's shown no sign of improvement and may not recuperate. She assures him he'll recover when she finds the long-sought-after treasure he's been looking for. Her best friend, Monica, hopes Kelly will find a personal treasure ... the man of Kelly's dreams! Kelly is quick to find a dive shop in St. Martin to take her to a location on her father's map. She's not happy about DeVore being her dive partner, but she won't be distracted. At the bottom of the sea, the current gets strong and she is swept into a tornado of fluorescent colors ... and back in time to 1968. This is a fun read more so for older teens, but it held my adult interest as well. It's a quick read, well written, exciting, and magnetic. This novella does need to be proofed again as there are many typo errors, but don't let them slow you down. GrayIn a hurry and need a quick book to read Then Seaspan by Sharon Powers is a great book for you. This 92 page novella is packed with fantasy, time travel, adventure and romance that will keep you glued to the pages throughout the book.I liked the way the author did an excellent job of developing her tale, keeping it exciting and fast paced. It is easy to follow and get into, even though it was full of exciting twist and turns. I liked her writing style.Sharon Powers did a great job of developing her characters, giving the right amount of background so that they came alive as the story progress. I found the characters to be easy to follow and identify with.I enjoyed Seaspan by Sharon Powers and highly recommend this novella to all readers.[Please note: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.]0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.Could Have Been More than a NovellaBy J. MartsThe rating is because there could have been so much more to the book, making it more than a novella. Instead, I felt like a lot of things were rushed and not fully explained. It's more of a 2.5 stars but it wasn't bad enough to warrant a 2-star.Kelly Reed lives in the 1990s and earns her diving certificate to look for a hidden treasure in the Caribbean.Jack Myers lives in the 1960s and meets Kelly due to a time warp in the ocean.Flash forward 25 years, and Jack has ben anxiously awaiting Kelly to meet him again. Their romance is too rushed to be believable, in my mind.So in the '90s are men from the '60s who follow Kelly to the warp and attempt to kill her for the hidden (ancient/past) treasure.See all 5 customer reviews...
