Perhaps because of her painful memories, she accepts that the island is real.I can tell you this, I had so much fun reading Eternal Island. The cast of characters couldn't be better and I laughed, hard!Abe is the High Vampire, the big kahuna of the island. A long time ago a vampire discovered the island and invited others to come there to escape the slayers. When witches were being burned, drowned, and hanged, the vampire invited them to the island also. It was mutually beneficial. The witches watched out for the vamps during the day and the vamps protected the witches by night. And the witches cast a spell to keep the island hidden.This is a great premise. A secret island, witches and vamps working together!Abe is a stickler for rules and suffers no nonsense. It's hard for him to be so unsure of himself now that he's found love. Upon knowing he's about to come face to face with Ariana - "I love her and I've never even heard her voice. Do you know how that makes me feel Vulnerable! I feel weak."I like when a vampire and a human fall in love. All through the story I'm wondering, will he want to change her, will she want to be changed Keeps the mystery flowing.Rainey is a psychic witch and has to make sure Abe doesn't rush things and scare Ariana off. She needn't have worried. Once Ariana gazes into Abe's eyes, she's enamored.Her roommate Becky catches on quickly and thinks Ariana does protest too much."It's not what you think, Becky. Honestly." Becky made a face and stared back unblinking. "Okay, there's no point in arguing with you anyway, is there""Nope, I always win."A fact I liked: He enjoyed drinking alcohol for the simple reason that it was something different. A human doesn't like to only eat pizza or cheeseburgers all the time and the same applied to Abe's kind. Blood, although necessary to stay alive, got old, boring, after a while. His favorite drink was Jack Daniels, or an AB Negative girl.Yikes! I'm AB Negative!This part written about Abe made me crack up: Abe had been lying in bed for hours trying to count those damn sheep. Three hours later he decided to start shooting the sheep.The book is full of fun, laugh out loud, moments. But there is also some yummy romance and a slew of characters, good and evil.One vamp wants another one dead. The other vamp wants said vamp dead. Who will get who firstWill Abe and Ariana finally be togetherWill Rainey see the mysterious Kade againWill Jonah stay out of trouble Not likely!There's hi-jinx, romance and intrigue in Eternal Island. With so much going on, there's never a dull moment.If I was invited, I wouldn't hesitate to visit! Five Stars for Eternal Island! Never are you certain what will happen or how it will happen. The characters are strong and just make each other better. The story behind each character will just suck you in and make you want more. There were so many scenes I loved and each time I think about them they bring back the emotions I had when I first read it. I think my favorite part is the initial pond scene when Abe jumps in fully clothed. It was a point in the book where a reader can tell he has really changed and everything is now about his love for Ariana, not just about work or taking care of everyone else.This story is about characters falling in love fast, they are vampires and when they find their soul mate they fall in love fast. The other characters work through their flaws and issues quickly but because they are finally at a place where they can move forward. The characters in my opinion are very well developed giving the reader a clear understanding of where they came from, where they are currently and where they want to be now.I also have the audio version of this book and I was thrilled to hear it come to life. It just enhanced my experience with this book. It's like getting a movie made of your favorite book, only the actors are the very ones you thought they would be, and no one has cut the book up so much you don't recognize it. It's the entire book being told to you and you get to experience all the feelings you read it the first time. I just closed my eyes and got swept away.Haigwood and Medler did an exceptional job developing a story line that will keep you interested in these characters to the very end...and beyond. In fact, I'm off to the next book Eternal Immortality. The characters are very well developed. The authors give you a clear understanding behind each character where they are and where they will be. You can't help but fall in love with them, cry with them and laugh with them. This truly is a love saga with passion, betrayal, and jealously. The very first chapter your captivated and eternally hooked.Arianna a Human who is in a catatonic state in asyllum. Is given a choice to stay in her current state forever or live on an eternal island with with a job and a life amongst Supernaturals. Unbeknownst to Arianna she is the mate to the High Vampire. Arianna is a feisty heroine with abilities and power she is unaware of. You can't help but fall in love with her character.Abe a sexy High Vampire that is dominate and an impatient King. Will protect his island and his people at all cost. In all his 954 years of existence women were for feeding and to state his needs. Abe thought his fate was to never be mated and find love. But one view of a beautiful human in a crystal ball brought him to his knees and made his heart ache to have her in his arms. Abe is this sexy dark beast you can't help but cheer on. He makes you pout, ache, and dance with him in this story. He leaves you breathless and wanting more.The book has all these side characters with interesting back stories that makes you want more. The authors did a great job and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. This could be considered for young adult readers as well. I recommend this book to all the PNR and UF readers and everyone who loves a Happy Ever After ending.See all 122 customer reviews...
